Membership in The Players Guild Theatre not only
demonstrates your support for this theatre but makes many of our other
programs possible.
National figures demonstrate that less than 60% of all operating
funding is generated by ticket sales. As the costs of production
continue to rise we take every measure to work within our means and
reduce expenses. While grants and outside contributions help to defray
our costs they amount to perhaps 20% of our total budget. The remaining
% must come from memberships and fund raisers. Many theatres across the
country have been forced to raise ticket prices and many are closing
their doors through lack of public and private support.
Your additional membership donations not only serve to maintain lower
ticket prices but also provide the means to offer classes at affordable
fees and give an opportunity for many to study and improve their
theatre skills. Your funding also makes possible outreach programs to
schools and social groups, bringing theatre to the community. This
additional funding also helps to insure the future of quality, live
theatre for other generations.
