William G. Fry (Educational Director, Emeritus) came to the Guild in 1965 as an actor playing the role of Elijah J. Whitney in Anything Goes. Over the next several years he served on every committee at the Guild and was a member of The Board of Trustees for three years. He joined the players Guild professional staff in 1976. Since that time he has directed over 100 productions at the Guild and expanded the youth and adult theatre classes greatly. Bill is an artist in residence in five Canton City elementary schools through the Cultural Center for the Arts, Children's Arts Connection program. He is a native of Canton and a graduate of McKinley High School. He joined the Army after graduation and served as a Mandarin Chinese interpreter. Completing his military training he attended Kent State University majoring in Education. As a director, he is versatile, familiar with a wide variety of performance styles. As an actor, he has appeared as God in J.B., the devil in Damn Yankees, Ben Franklin in 1776, and Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. Back to professional staff page

Mary Lou Ianni (Theatre Instructor) A graduate of Myers College, she has taught creative drama for eleven years at the Guild and at various elementary schools in the area. She was director of the ArtSmart program at the Cultural Center for the Arts for two years. In addition to her teaching duties, Mary Lou is an active volunteer with the Players Guild in both onstage and backstage positions. Her acting ability and her professional demeanor have contributed greatly to the success and enjoyment of many Guild productions. Back to professional staff page
Janet MacGregor-Jones (Instructor) holds a B.F.A. degree from Kent State University, appearing for several seasons with Porthouse Theatre, then moving to NYC where she continued her studies. She has performed locally with the Contract Players. She taught acting classes at Jackson Middle School for four year before coming to the Players Guild in 1999. Her Players Guild acting credits include ALL THE WAY HOME, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, CINDERELLA, and A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Back to professional staff page
